Hi all,

I got a Glass Catfish and was reading they only eat live foods?
He eats bloodworm when its falling to the floor when the sissors shake the block, but i feel that its not enough for the little guy as he swims around the area after its gone just looking hungry :(
I am/was going to buy another 2/3 but i need to make sure the one i have is eating properly...

Im in the uk and dont know where to get live foods? What should i be looking for?

thanks

Kev

You don't need live foods at all, thats a load of rubbish! Frozen foods are always a benefit, but both my indian and african glass catfish eat tetra prima granular, bloodworm, cockle, mussel...

You DEFFINATELY need some friends for it though, the more the merrier, i started with 8 although I only have 6 left now, they are great to watch schooling, especially at night when they shoot up and down with the african glass catfish.

It was my intentions of buying 4 ( all that was in the store) but i got one just to see how it would go with the food.
i got this one one saturday and was going to buy the rest this saturday. Unfortuantly he/she has whitespot  which im treating (looks like its all gone tho). It wasnt untill he/she was in the tank and i saw him/her against the black background i noticed but the guy at the store gave me a bottle of whitespot treatment free and said he would replace anything which dies :) hope the rest in the tank made it cos they were ace lol :)

So i shoud try some dried bloodworm?

Is there a way i can make sure he/she get some food as the sissortails are so dam quick...

Kev

Deffinately, I have fed Interpet Dried Bloodworm to mine and they wolf it down. Feed at night to make sure it gets some.
As for whitespot, raise temp to 81F, treat for a week, do waterchange, if it is still there then treat for another week.

Right-o,

the whitespot seems to be gone now :) will do a 30% water change on friday nite as planned. Am i ok to add the other 3 or 4 on saturday or should i wait a week?

Hi
Like bunjiweb said you're diffently going to need some more as they are shoaling fish and will just waste away if they are kept singly or in pairs. This may be the reason it's not eating. When stressed its transparent body will turn to a milky colour. Goodluck and try and get hold of 5 more if you can :)
