Nope, I still haven't done anything else to it, I'm no nearer to placing or filling it and it still doesn't have a heater, filter, lights, or, um, anything else much. But hey, since I'm going to be cloning it, once it is set up I'm going to want fish in pretty much straight away. Dimensions, 48" x 15" (high) x 12" (wide). Will be filtered by a Fluval 4+. 1/2" layer of sand on the bottom. No live plants, as such.

Now then, dilemma #1. It has a ~1.5g glass tank thing attatched to the inside. Like this, funnily enough.

Since it's inside the main tank, it's heated, and either a sponge filter or some sort of water flow device to the main tank can be added. I don't want it for raising fry born in the main tank, I want it to actually have something breeding in there. I was thinking maybe endlers, for food and to sell if it comes to it.

So on to stocking the main tank. I know I'm getting a striped peacock eel and a FW dragon goby, but I'm bebating putting the latter in the planned 48x18x18 tank if the bichirs won't eat it, or do anything else nasty to it. So, thats about it. Decowise, rocks. Umm, what do you think? I don't want schooling fish, lest they're interesting, and nothing common and boring.

Be a bit hard to find anything that will live and breed happily in 1.5 gallons though. Endlers aren't THAT tiny. A female is about the size of a male guppy. And they are quite lively, like most livebearers. And talking of females, where would they get away from male attention in such a small tank? I think this does sound like a fry home/birthing tank more than a permanent home for anything.

But you can have lots of fun with the main tank. :hyper:

Mm, true, I forgot females get a lot bigger than the males.... Any egglayers anyone can think of?

throw a beta in there !! lol ! yeah it may be a good place to keep fry or a birthing tank. i'd say it could come in handy! just my thoughts though

storing fry is pretty much the limit of a 1.5g's usefullness... i really can't think of anything that besides a betta that'd be long-term happy in there.

A betta or a few shrimp would be OK, though 1.5 gal isn't great even for those. Might be better to keep it for fry just in case... or remove it alltogether if thats an option?

No bettas, the bettas go on the betta shelf in their own ~1.5g plastic containers. Don't really want to remove it, tis an interesting... thingy. Shrmp, possible, but do any breed eaily? I can't get ghost shrimp.

Perhaps cherry shrimp? Quite colourful, and readily available in pompy too. Any particular reason you cant get ghost shrimp?

Never seen anywhere selling them, although admittedly I haven;t really looked... I've seen amano shrimp, various fan shrimp (although not cherry shrimp -_- )...

Only place in portsmouth with cherry shrimp is Taylors Aquatics in arundel street.

Hmm... I was in there Monday and didn't see any... I saw amanos... But then again I was too busy being happy about getting the delhezi they had :D I might be going back there this weekend/another time soon, I'll be sure to have a look.

heres what I would have in there
1 butterfly fish
1 bgk
and the delhezi you wanted all pretty intresting fish to me :D make sure if you do get the butterfly fish that you cover up the breeder as they are excellent jumpers they dont have those wing like fins for nothing lol

If you speak to the old bloke thats often in there he'll order some if you want, and he's reasonably knowledgeable too.
