got a roughly 10g tank to use as a sump for our 30g tank, which of the above would you do and why, or would you do something completely different?

any comments why for the people who have voted for any options?

I have a 10G sump for a 24G aquarium.

Personally I use mine as a place to put the equipment, some live rock and a refugium.

I do have an attempt at a DSB in there, but I'm not convinced it's anywhere near large enough to be of any value.

how about something out of the ordinary. ive read that peopel are using cryptic zone and putting stuff like partitions for aiptasia to grow and sponges. as for voting im not sure which one as it confuses me lol :p

I voted Miracle Mud HOB and refugium for sump. I personally would never have Miracle mud as a substrate in any tank; remember that it will need to be changed a year or so down the road, when it's binding capacity has been maxed.

I also think that a ten gallon is not big enough for a DSB. Remember that they need to be at least 8'' deep to be effective. You would just have a big tank full of sand and nothing else. Where would you even put the pumps?

I voted for the first "Other"

HOB refugium, sump with a protein skimmer, some rowaphos, and bubble walls. I'm not really a believer in miracle mud.

Personally i`m quite hapy to give the miracle mud a try and then fill the hob with LR and use that s a fuge to breed lots of little pods ect

your right about the DSB, hadn't even thought how deep it needs to be and the size of the tank, that can't work then really!!
