ive noticed some neons n a few other small tetra goin missing

is it due to my firemouths?

in my tank i have

2 firemouths
2 silver sharks (1 quite large)
1 rainbow shark
1 rainbow fish
a ram
4 parrots
3 kribs
3 congo tetra's
1 small ghost knife fish
1 small elephant nose fish
3 pleco's
1 small african cichlid (til sunday)
5 guppies

could any of these be the neon munchers?

You've got quite a few predatory fish in there. I think the list of suspects can probably be cut down to:

4 parrots
1 small ghost knife fish
1 small elephant nose fish
1 small african cichlid (til sunday)

I suspect the ram and kribs are probably innocent, and I'm casting a wary eye towards the other tetras but I don't think so; and definitely not the guppies.

Without knowing any of the sizes I would say that it's either the African, FM or parrot. AA is correct tho on all of the culprits and I'm not trying to say otherwise. :)

It would help if you could give the size (and species of African) of them all. :)

Mbunas don't get but 3-5" so even tho they might seem small, they are mature and no other fish can outswim them and they are easy prey for these lightning quick guys.

Well you can be sure it wasnt the elephant nose, they have trouble eating big bloodworms with their tiny little mouths.
It will be one of the cichlids, a good lesson learnt in why you cannot combine any cichlid with any fish that can fit in their mouths.

well all my cichlids are pretty small....

i got an ice blue 1....he only about 2 inches ling if that with a really small mouth

my firemouths are still young.....only about the same size as the ice blue cichlid

my parrots arent fully grown either...they still got small mouths

Although a fishes mouth may appear small in the resting phase, you would be surprised with how big it can open up, especially with the cichlids. I'll have to agree with everyone else on the probable culprits.

my bet is the firemouths... small fish tetras for small cichlids equals big meals

When you list "Silver Sharks" are you referring to Columbian Shark Catfish? If so they would be the prime suspect IMO...eating machines with quite large mouths.

Silver shark is the English name for bala shark.
