Ok, I have two plecos that are about two inches long. I'm wondering if it would be alright if I put one of them in my fry tank. I figure not, but I thought I'd ask. :alien:

How big is the fry tank? I don't think they'll desturb the fry too much..

Haha, no.
What kind of plec is it?
Most plecs grow atleast 6"....unless its a clown plec, it'll be fine. Clown plecs only grow 3"

Trust me I know how big common plecos get, I had to put one in my mom's koi pond over the summer. It would only be temporarily in the tank to take care of algae, since my snails are not doing the job.

Why don't you buy a algae scraper? It would be a little extra work, but then you wouldn't have to worry about any other type of fish eating them.

Alright, if they stay small, I'm sure they'll be ok.
As long as the fry don't get in between plecs and what the plecs are getting attached too, the fry should be fine.

What type is a pleco? I think its best to post where it belongs, my topics get moved all the time or closed because they dont belong in a certain section... :p

I honestly would not do it. I would be concerned about the water quality. Plecs produce a lot of waste. I don't think the benefits of having him clean your algae will outweigh the cons of the extra waste produced.

I know you said 2" plecs, but what kind? Commons aren't even very good algae eaters, I have found oto's and SAE's to be the best.

FishEnthusiast, it is a Plecostomus punctatus. Your right about the water issues. I guess I'll just put up with the algae for now. Thanks for the help eveyone. :D
