360L tank, was cycled using fishless cycle and then heavily planted. CO2 system is in use.

Fish were added on Saturday - 25 Cardinal tetras and 3 bolivian rams

I have done daily checks and the water and ammonia has been perfect.

at 11am all the fish were fine. It is now 2.30pm and my flat mate called to say that every single fish is dead!

Ammonia =0 - 0.25
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0 (it is heavily planted)
PH 6.5

what has happened?! They have looked healthy ever since Sunday night after they had time to settle down?

Every single fish? Even in bad water surely several would still be alive? Something very very toxic or a possible electrical failure? I wouldn't be putting your hand in there!

good advice. Unplug everything before going near it.

Another possibility might be lack of oxygen. Is the water surface being agitated enough by the filter?

in despiration, i called the guys at the ADA shop in Wales who have helped me out a lot.

I had big issues with the delivery of the fish. Some of you may have seen my post.

The guy from ADA recons that the fish suffered unrecoverable damage from ammonia during transport. Which sounds about right!

All electrics etc are fine, and my water parameters are spot on. Apparently in a situation like this we need to look at two things. Ammonia spike....which is not the case, or CO2 poisining, whcih is also not the case as its low just now

I have oxygen going into the tank as the spray bar is above the water line just nwo :(

Oh no! I'm so sorry to hear this after everything you went through with these fish. I'd get back on to the guy who sent them and explain what has happened as he was going to replace them all originally wasn't he?

Yeh. But I am not sure what he'll think about the fact the fish lived for a few days. I know my water is fine and everything is working, but I need him to believe me! I hate fish just now! Anybody want a 360l planted aquarium and equipment to go with?

you have ammonia readings at 0-0.25 even traces as low as this can harm fish it needs to be at 0. also after what they have been through it doesnt suprise me to be honest....

if you have any ammonia showing then a water change is required asap and even at 0.25 i would suggest a 50-75% water change.

take all of the dead fish out and keep adding ammonia to keep the filter cycled otherwise you could end up in a pickle when introducing new fish.

Oh dear, I really feel for you and the fish, what a tragedy. I hope you are able to resolve the issue.

Well I say 0-0.25, but in all honesty, it's 0! I am just being conservitive haha

Hope this guy is understanding!

Argh, that sucks.
I hope you're able to start it up again with some more fishies :) :good:
