So i am looking into getting my first tank at the end of April. My budget will probably be £200 max for the tank/stand. I have seen a few in pets at home but they dont seem very big.
They have the Fishbox 60 which is a 64L tank. It looks quite nice, but i dont know if its going to be big enough....I also saw a Hagen Marina 95 which i think is a 95L tank. Again this is nice, but i dont know much about tanks! I have 2 cats so the tank HAS to have a lid and i would prefer one with a stand as i dont have anywhere else to put it!

Any suggestions from you all would be greatly appreciated....and then i can get on with asking what fish you would all suggest! ;)

For 200, you should be able to get a 3fter, which will give you better options.. if you are willing to go second hand, you could even get a 4fter for that much! For example, I got one of my AquaOne 980s, with everything standard + a new Fluval 305 for 100 pounds including delivery of fleabay ;)

Thanks Kitty Kat!
I have been looking on Ebay so far i havent seen many bargains but i do have another month or so to search! Are 2nd hand tanks ok? If the person had sick fish in it for example...this wouldnt pass onto my fish if its cleaned/cycled etc? Any other tank suggestions?

i got my fluval roma 125 including a stand for £200 from seapets (think its 229 now). They have been very good with the delivery and no problems till now. I got the complete setup as i was a newbie. But as kitty kat suggested, you could get a nice 2nd hand tank for that money if someone near you is selling. Good luck

Generally, yes. If you clean the tank, there should be no problems..

Thanks! I had a look on seapets...its actually a really good offer! I hope they still have it on end of April when i get my tank!

i bought a rio 400 from ebay for 150, no filter or any extras just the tank and stand but still i good very good price for a 5 footer, i also bought a vision 180 for can remember exactly but i think it was about 100 in very good condition, both good buys i think :good:

yes buying second hand fish tanks are fine. they say the safe amount of silicone will last on the corners is twenty years. But i believe many people would be able to dispute this the shop i worked in the old tropical section was running for 25 years and no leaks. just make sure you look at the tank for scratches.
