What Sort Of Size Would A Bgk Be Before It Starts Eating Other Fish

I've just noticed i only have 3 marble hatchets left, had 5 yesterday. Theres no remains and i can't find them anywhere. The only fish in my tank that may be able to eat them would be a bgk but it's only roughly 4 inches. I have a largeish angel fish but i don't think it could fit these in it's mouth.

I don't think either fish would be big enough to kill the hatchets,
could they have simply died and still be somewhere in the tank or even have jumped out at all?

The angelfish at its size could not eat a hatchet fish. The black ghost knife, though a likely candidate, probably couldn't eat the whole thing, but definitely would harass the tetras and attempt to eat them. However, the most likely suspect is themselves. the hatchet fish is actually the only fish in the world that can fly. Even the flying fish are only gliders. The hatchets actually flap their fins when they jump out of the water, which gives them more lift and longer distances.

The lid i have has been on the tank all day (and night) so i don't think they've jumped out, theres no spaces or holes around the lids, i'll do some more investigating.

Is it a palstic or glass lid on the top. Sometimes fish do the most strange things. I had a full grown hoplo go out the top of my tank and the lid was still shut.

it's a plastic lid. The tank is a rena aqualife which sits flush on top of the tank. I've had a real good search around and theres no sign of them whatsoever at all. I think they've died and been eaten, but how and by what will remain a mystery.

Pretty gutted though as it took me ages to get the hatchets.
