im thinking of using an old tank as a sump on my 6.5x2x2, but what size would be suitable for the job...?

the 2 tank i have available are a juwel rio 180 3FT or a clearseal 3FT 100L. im guessing the 180 would be better as it has more capacity but i already have 2 fx5's as well!

Aslong as you have a strong enough pump and a big enough intake to the sump i would think that tank would work fine. If this is for the brackish tank all of them fish are quite messy and IMO 2 FX5s wont be enough.

the tank at the minute is only filtered by a single fx5 and has been for 3 years or so. im forward thinking for current stocking if the brackish fish go :good:

Fair enough then i wouldnt have thought that would have been enough but if its working can knock it. Are you planing to get rid of them? The archers look great.

not 100% sure yet. brackish really isnt my thing i much prefer a well planted tank with lots of colour. they are great fish dont get me wrong but im just not sure about them. also im not sure how easy they will be to move on due to size and the fact that brackish isnt really that popular, i cant just take them to an lfs as none near me do brackish only small that survive in freshwater at a young age. its either freshwater or marine

Fair enough. Yeah you dont see that many BIG brackish tanks so it could be hard t find them a new home. what sort of fish do you think you will go for? It would look great for a group of Lima shovelnoses i cant wait to get one for my 5x2x2 but then i think they would uproot the plants.

i like big fish but i prefer big groups of smaller fish to be honest at the minute. denisonii barbs, cardinals and corys with maybe a pair of proven discus so no bullying
stop getting me carried away i have the cats and archers for now :grr:
