hey everyone

i'm a newbie to this and i'm looking at getting a tank which is around the 20 gallon mark (23 uk gallons to be exact)

it will come with a filter but not a heater.

is there a watts per gallon ratio or something like that to make sure i get the right type / size of heater for the size of my tank?

many thanks for any advice in advance

ales xx

There is, ill have a look...

3 - 5 watts per gallon

So 69 - 115W for you.

So 75w or 100w heater you will need.

Id go 100W

Depends on its location really... if its in a cold room you will need a larger unit than if your room is central heated 24/7 ... generally Id say 100W

thanks guys:thumbs:

wanted to make sure my fishies teeh weren't chatterin'

( i kno they prob wont have teeth but thats not the point!!!)

love ales x
