What Size Heater Do I Need ?

i have just set up my 72"x24"x30" tank and i only have a 300 watt heater in there at the moment and its struggling to get up to temp. so i was wondering if anyone knew what size heater to go for?

A 300w heater will do around 370 litres ish going off my fluval.

Id go off that rule! The spec page for my fluval says 375l but in a tank that big I'd go for 2 300W or 2 200w probes the 300w so it should be easily covered!

Using our standard estimate of wattage of heat would give the ridiculous value of over 1KW of heat for your tank. I suspect that another 300W heater will give you plenty of heat if you have the tank in a reasonable location like a heated room.

the tank is in my dining room and ive just checked the temp, its on 68, so a little way to go yet. i think i will go for another 300w heater
