ok I started a thread a couple days ago about my nano shrimp tank taking a unexplained plunge, losing 5 out of my 6 mosquito rasboras, and Ive noticed all my trumpet snails are dead too. Now Ive rehomed the one rasbora, and the 3 amano shrimp, but now I need to figure out what to do with this tank. Its got nice thick moss growth and I really want to keep it alive. i assume I should break the tank down and give it a good clean to get rid of whatever contaminated the water, but willl the plants be safe to move to my community tank? I dont want to move the contamination over with them!

this is what it looks like right now

when and where did you get your plants?

ive had the plants for a long time, the moss has been grown by me for months. the java fern would be the newest purchase, from a lfs, but i had that in the tank before the fish, and it was fine for close to 2 months. i dont know exactly what you are getting at, but Im sure that something entered the water column when I did the water change 2 days before i noticed the fish struggling for life..

heres my original thread. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?/topic/379548-well-its-happened-to-me-now/

but the question still stands, will rinsing thoroughly be enough to safely transfer the plants will i clean the tank top to bottom?

sometimes when plants are bought over from the far east, they are covered in pesticides and rubbish, i was wondering whether you'd added anything.

and yes, give the plants a run under warm water and there souldn't be a problem.

if you are thinking the supplier used some sort of snail killer on the plants, i would imagine it would have killed the amano shrimp before effecting the fish. its weird the fish died, the snails died, but the shrimp are ok.

What is it with Ammano shrimp a few months back i lost all my fish except a bristlenose and all my ammano shrimp survived.

Maybe the Ammano shrimp are secretly killing everything else ...
