What should be my first fish

I'm either looking to get some neons or a balloon a$$ gourami
I'm mostly for the gourami, seeing as thought it is compatible with my future angelfish

Go for the Gourami... much more tolerable to water changes than the Neon.

Gouramis tend to swim in just about anything, with varying PH levels and varying Temperatures.

i'm not sure to either go with a balloon gourami, honey gourami or chocolate gourami, it's mostly out of the honey and the balloon

I would also go for the gourami. I did and I don't regret it one bit, they are great fish and there are so many variaties to choose from. I have 2 balloon kissers, 1 dwarf, and 2 red gouramis (1 male and 1 female).

The neons of today can be a bit touchy as to water condition and other tank factors, I'd also go with the gourami, they are tough and beautiful and won't be the mature angel's natural food.
