its to go in a 30g tank with
2 bns
1 upside down cat
2 Roberts Catfish
3 platys
3 mollys
1 honey gourami

most rainbowfish species require an aquarium that is 36" long or more, as they are fast swimmers and like to dart around. for a 30G tank, i would recommend M. praecox, which stays smaller than most other rainbows and is quite beautiful :hyper:

Pseudomugil species are much smaller and would be good for that size tank, very pretty fish, although sometimes hard to find here in the UK.

Furcatus and gertrudae being the more common species found.

However, praecox are larger than those species and much easier to source, group of 6 should be ok, but they would prefer a slightly larger tank for long term happiness.

Depending on where you are geographicailly, M. kamaka might be available. They are a dwarf rainbow and are powdery silver/white. Loads of pics shown here: "http://rainbow-fish.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=431"

I am sure that there are alot of people keeping them in europe.

Edit: forgot, no crosslinking to other forums. Highlight the url (minus the quotation marks) and copy and paste it into your browser.

If you can find them; I love my blue-eyed rainbows. They dont get very big either.

i think im going to go with dwarf neons but i might get threadfins
could i mix them and have 3 dwarf neons and 3 threadfins

As long as you have all males or one male of each species and the rest females. The reason being is that the males will stress out the females to the point of death if you have too few. With only 6 fish and 2 species I would just get all males.

or could i have more in my tank the stockings in my sig and im getting a pair of bns
