I suspect it is a type of anubias but I am not sure because of the placement in the lfs tank, but they don't always have their signs in the right places.

I went to petsmart and asked for Java Fern and didn't watch them collect it and so came home with something else. I decided to keep it but I am not sure what it is. The leaves are pretty tough and thick and large. Because I suspect it is a anubias, I just have it tied to a peice of pottery shard, but perhaps it needs to be in the substrate :dunno:

Any ideas on what this is?

looks like a Anubias barteri var. nana

small, attractive plant which thrives in all conditions. It grows slowly, and the leaves survive for several years, giving slow-growing algae the chance to become established. The best result is achieved by planting on a stone or tree root. Fishing line can be used to attach the plant until it gains a hold. If planted on the bottom the rhizome must not be covered because it tends to rot. It flowers frequently under water.

The leaves look a little elongated for barteri var. nana. Its definately an anubias of some sort, perhaps Anubias barteri var. angustifolia?

Should do well tied to some wood or rock :)
