I've got 4 tiny baby goldfish. 3 Orandas, 1 Ranchu. Teensy tinies, they were quite smaller than a penny (less than 1/2 inch) when I got them less than a month ago. Well, one of the Orandas, the biggest one, and the one growing the fastest (now just about the size of a nickel [3/4 of an inch or thereabout?]), has something weird going on with his/her eyes. I don't THINK this is a disease type worry, so I didn't post in that section - but if you guys feel it is, could a mod please move this? Anyhow, he's acting totally normal, eating, everything fine. Nothing looks wrong. Except that his eyes, which are solid black, are getting these... not sure how to describe this ... like all around them in a full circle, the skin/flesh/whatever is growing straight out, like a tube around his eye. It's sort of clear. The eye itself, the solid black circle, is still flat where it was - not popped out of anything I don't think. It's just this...skin/flesh/whatever sort of growing straight out in a hollow tube shape around the solid black bit. I tried to get pictures for you. They're not great but I think you can see what I'm talking about? I've never had a bubble eye - is this what this is?? I thought they were dorsal-less. Or, is this some sort of weird problem?? Here's a bunch of pictures - best I could do.

Please let me know what you think?? Thanks!

Dunno, Could it be that it is a Telescope type

Could be a young buble eye, but I don'r know at what stage they develop the bubble?

No idea - the whole tank of TINY goldfish was marked as "baby orandas" gotten supposedly from a show breeder who brings his "pet quality" ones to this shop. But, in this tank of "baby orandas" was quite a rew baby ranchus, too. So, were these not all orandas and some (all??) bubble eyes or telescope eyes, who knows.

Online, it says the bubble eyes start to develop around 3 months old - which matches up with his size...

Are there any breeders or long-time keepers of these guys that can recognize what this is excatly and for sure? And do I need to worry at all about problem/disease here or no?

i can't see it very well but it looks like a ryukin crossed with a bubble eye but the bubble isn't forming properly but i could be wrong a side pic would be good if poss but its not the easiest thing to do lol :good:
