What Mesh Can I Use?

Hi i recently noticed my fluval edge tank is consuming my neon tetras. the filter intake sucks the fish up is there a special mesh i can use to put around the filter pipe and if so what can i use to seal it. as i dont want to poison my fish,cheers dan

What I've done on a different tank is to get a fish net and cut the net off; I've tied it around the pipe with lead plant weights

Use a fish net and use a zip tie to secure. Alternatively shove a bit of filter sponge over it. It will decrease flow with time as it becomes clogged so remove and clean regularly.

or use some old tights, cut to size

An additional tip is that if you use a mesh on your filter intake, periodically (like once a month or every couple of weeks) stick your arm in the tank and pull the mesh off of the filter intake. Algae or other micro life you can't see can clog up the mesh and encrust it against the intake, causing your filter to get less water flow. WD
