I know of a large number of FW fish that school happily together but what are some SW fish that will do the same. Are they peaceful? Will they be compatible with a soft coral reef?
firefish are a good option, they are not too large and 4 or 5 of them look great together, how large is your tank? they are also considered "reef safe"
they do however all require separate "bolt holes" somewhere they can go hide individually if they get spooked, as long as you have those youlld be fine
i think these fish look great had them and personally reccomend them
lion fish arent fulyl classed as reef safe due to they eat shrimps and crabs etc. schooling fish i would suggest.
chromosis (few types of that family)
a school of clowns like 6!? cos aslong they are a even number they are ok i think
Well if you are talking about a 100 gallon reef tanks then there are a few fish that school. Some are Blue Green Reef Chromis, Blue Reef Chromis, and Neon Blue Goby. There are more fish that school but these are the ones that I can remember from the top of my head.
chromis and cardinals are both good small schoolers. Clowns won't work as schoolers, they only like to be kept in mated pairs or singley. In larger setups you may get away with more but its a crap shoot and they don't really school.
Many damsels will also school, but it would have to then be a species tank or any other inhabitants would have to be able to take them on as they are very aggresive. But a friend in my local club has a school of about 15 or so blue damsels with a niger trigger and they all get along.
Anthias are great as a school as are chromis.
Both of these are considered the schooling fish of hte marine world. cardinals will school together but these are not overly active when it comes to swimming around.
Oh man, get some Anthias (or pseudo anthias). They're gorgeous and great schoolers. My LFS has a school of them in their display tank and these things are awesome. I so wish I had a 100g to put some schooling anthias in
