I have just bought 3 new loaches. I already have two Clown Loaches in my tank, and bought 3 new ones, sold to me as Historicana Loaches. I have been unable to find any information on them. They are longer than my Clowns, are striped the same, but with more stripes, and have a duller colour, more of a beige than an orange and black. Can anyone help please identify? I have looked at all the loaches on the forum and none match my loaches

I don't think so since the yoyo doesn't have a similar pattern to a clown loach. The yoyo loach has more of a random pattern.

Botia histrionica (formerly botia dario) is usualy called the bengal or gold zebra loach. They do have black and gold-cream-orange stripes but look nothing like clowns and get nowhere near their size (only get to 3" max., usualy less, as opposed to 12"). They are very nice, friendly loaches IME, and it's not unlikely that these are what you have. A google search for images should enable you to match them up with your own.

thanks for everyones help, turns out they are histrionica loaches, although I would beg to differ that they are nothing like clowns. Thanks once again,.

>>> Botia histrionica (formerly botia dario)

B. histrionica and B. dario are both valid species. I have seen a lot of discussion about histrionica v rostrata, but not dario.

ok I'm confused
this it a B.histronica
