What Lights To Go For

hi all im looking for advice on what light/s to get for my 2 foot tank??

i want some thing thats going to help the plants but still look good..

at the moment iv got one of them tin lids but im going to make a new one with the plans on the diy page..

Have a look at the pinned article on lighting at the top of this section, decide on the amount of watts you want to use and take it from there, bear in mind you may need to also consider CO2 if you upgrade the lighting.

ill be honest i cannot get my had aroung all that talk in it.

iv got co2 in the tank. oh the tank buy the way is a 18 gal uk.

the light thats in it at the moment says
orignal tropical FO15-18" plant groth lamp. and has been in the over 2 years. and the tank is 18 " deep

any help would be great..

2 years ??? has the lamp been used for such a long time?.. from what i know u should really change it ince a year at least well 1.5 years should do but what watts im not sure as i have just asked same question in my article for my 8 gal UK tank

Hope some more advanced users and fish keepers will help as im only a beginner myself lol
