OK i have looked and looked all over the Internet to find a pleco that really stands out but i cant come up with any that actually STAND OUT(by the means of color) . I would prefer for it to be a algae eater but if it looks really cool then anything that stands out would be cool. I did find the horned ones at my local petsmart but want to see what ese is out there. Any suggestions.

L200, L128, L134, L24, L25, L27c, L66, L14, L177, L47, Lda33 to name just a few!

what colour(s)/patterns 'stand out' to you?

have a look through mine and planetcatfish for ideas

How big is your tank?

Starlight Bristlenose might be an option for an algae eater.

I find L134 and L066 striking if you are looking for smaller plecs, and I'd love to have a L128 Blue Phantom. :D

As Mike has said, there are plenty of lovely and different coloured and patterned plecs.

Andy :)

rhino plecs arn't exactly striking or colourful....

Be prepared for a shock if your considering a zebra.... you'll be looking at 10x the price of other exotic plecs ;)

Really about how much. I kinda like the rhino b/c the get big and they have big fins

Big is not a good thing for a 20 gal.

where in the world are you? (add it to your profile)

In the UK for an adult Zebra you could be looking at £300.... (top end)

Nice :) I spens some time there a few years back - Would move there in a flash :D

Anyway - back to topic :)

I'd stick with the smaller species in a 20 gallon - 6-8" MAX.

Going by rcsmith's price which I know is accurate you are looking at around 600 US dollars for one Adult :hyper:
I would love to own some but that much money pays 1/4 of my tutition! Good luck, there are plenty of lovely plecs out there :good:

Drew

The L numbers refer to the species of pleco, because there are so many different species and species that look similar the L numbers help people to know what fish the other is talking about. I.e. Run a search on google for "L046 pleco" and you will get all kinds of info on the 600 dollar "zebra pleco"
My vote is on the Starlight bristlenose for your tank. They are great fish, effecient algae eaters. Not the most striking colors but they arent as nocturnal as some others so you can view them more often.
Of course I am biased to anything with a "bushy-nose"
