^ We often buy this, but not sure if it is that iceberg salad that is said to be avoided.
Can it be fed to fish?

That's not iceberg and is fine to be fed to fish :)

mmm I don't think that one is iceberg it's too leafy. Do they say iceberg should be avoided because of the low nutritional value? I'd guess that if you stick with the green "leafy" varieties of lettuce that you're probably ok! Just a guess though :)

Thats not iceberg its called 'round lettuce' :)

Thank you.
I often eat that raw so whenever I take some I think of giving to the fish.
Since my dad might get an apple snail, might as well keep some salad for it too.
And my swordies might like it as well, seeing as one of them began to like the taste of my plant...

I've just ordered a little clip (I think it was called a nori clip?) with a suction cup attached off ebay that's used for feeding veggies to fish - looking forward to getting it! I figure that because it's stuck to the glass you'll get a great view of them and it's also easier to remove when they are done!

I'd just put a few tiny crumbs over the surface and they'll get it from there (although for some reason my swordies prefer to feed at the bottom but will come to the surface if I give flakes or other floating food).
But for a snail I'd get a bigger piece and leave it on the bottom for a while. Is that what trumpet snails eat? Or apples or both?

Also, how do you save snail eggs if you want to breed them? I know breeder net can be used, but how do you get the eggs before fishes eat them? Or do trumpets bury eggs in sand?

I think the snails eat just about everything lol. I've lot a little algae outbreak at the moment so I imagine they are feeding off of that but since they are nocturnal I never really see them. Also snails are prolific breeders and they will quickly fill a tank with babies without any assistance at all!

Trumpet snails are actually livebearers. They do like lettuce :)

That sounds cute.
So I wouldn't have to worry about my swordie picking on them, she seems to dislike tiny snail shells' taste, so she leaves them alone after one peck.
Guess trumpets wouldn't be in trouble with her either.
I just hope the shop has any, but not sure of the price, dad might end up getting an apple snail since he doesn't want to spend much money. -.-

Pet shops here don't often sell them because they can be considered "pest snails" (doesn't mean they don't have them, they may just give you some!) - I got mind off ebay :)

lol i like them either way X))
If they are pests, they might be sold cheaper then. Probably less than a swordtail. Unless they are in short supply.

Also, are there any snails that don't like sand? Just so I know what not to get.

mmmm not that I'm aware of - trumpet snails love it because they burrow under it during the day. They are really cheap I got 7 off ebay for £1.99 not including postage I think it was nearer to £5.00 with postage so they won't break the bank!

Also I have had confirmation that mine are still alive hehe

Let's just hope they have some of those. Else I'll settle for an apple one or a Nerite or something. Even a giant ramshorn would be cool.

I wonder if my current ramshorn can grow any bigger... he's been almost twice the size of my swordtail's eye for a month now...

They only had apples, nerites and assassin snails, so I got 2 apples. But now my hoplo keeps sniffing them. One has made it to the glass, but lol @ Tzuppy going upside down trying to make the snail fall while pushing him.

One of them is already on the job, he's eating some fallen leaves from the plant. That plant needs a lot of cleanup...
