Hey everyone I have a question.

I had a common pleco in my 55 gallon and learned on here that I needed to rehome him. I found someone to trade with but don’t know what kind of pleco this new guy is. Is he another common? He is super small, about an inch long, so I’m hoping he will be ok in my tank for a while.

Looks more like a Baryancistrus xanthellus to me, aka Gold Nugget Pleco.
Either of these will be fine in your 55 though.

Much better fit :D
At most gets maybe 5 inches

I took a better pic of this guy today. Is this a bristlenose or a golden nugget pleco? The yellow on the tail fin is making me wonder if it’s in fact a golden nugget.

No that is a bristlenose. Look at the link I posted, some varieties have the little gold spots like yours does :)

Juvenile bristlenose have the white (sometimes it can look slightly yellow) line on their caudal fin. The line will go away with age and often the spots will fade somewhat too.
