I am currently setting up a 3 foot tank. It has a metal hood and the attachments for a fluorescent light... thing is... I've never had a metal hood or used fluorescent lighting before. Could someone clue me up on both of these please! I am sure an appropriate aquarium fluorescent light would be enough for my needs but I am concerned about the heat it might give off and the hood possibly becoming quite hot. So, I was thinking of possibly rigging different lighting... maybe LCD lights? Do they also give off a lot of heat?
My other two tanks have different lighting... my smaller one has external lighting and my second one has built in lighting using energy saving bulbs which work great... but can't manage either of those ideas with this tank... the lighting must be rigged to the hood.
