My husband and I just got a new 5 gallon tank and we are looking for any suggestions as to what kind of fish or types of fish we should put in there. We are interested in maybe getting a couple dwarf frogs as well and was wondering which combinations would work.

Thanks

5 gallons.. let me see..... ok I got some ideas! :p

1 male betta (Great for small tanks, although you can't put any other fish with him)

2 female bettas

5 corys (catfish family)

Guppies ( A lot of people like guppies but they’re harder to take care of than they look. If you were to get some you have to have them all male. if you don't you will get 100,000,000 fry every year.)

Ok, so these are some fish I was brainstorming. I don't know anything at all about dwarf frogs, someone else would have to help you on that :good: . The rule is one inch for gallon. Remember not all these fish go together!

Small school of neon tetras

Would be best to go with all males. The reason being that females in lfs's are often already pregnant when purchased. Read each line as a seporate stocking though. I would avoid the neon tetra surgestion though, as they prefur more swimming space than would generaly be available in a 5g. Other than that, all good sugestions :good:

Sorry, cannot offer advice on the dwarf frogs either, and the one inch per gallon rule is a good guide. Remember however that it is sometimes inaccurate. Will work with all the stocking surgestions put forward so far though.

you cant put neon tetras in a 5 gallon they need more space

platies need atleast 10 gallons

id go for pygmy cories instead of pandas.

You could get 1 male betta and 2 ADFs

or

1 male betta and 4-5 pygmy cories

or 2 female bettas and 1 ADF
