I have a 46 gallon tropical salt tank set up with some basic corals, an anenome, and 5-6 reef friendly fish.

While in petco, I spotted a little damsel for sale that I liked the looks of, but can't find to identify on line, in my books, and the salesman had no idea what it is. I need some help. Description: light yellowish tan overall color with a blueish hued back and 2 vibrant blue stripes extending horizontally from the nose and ending in front of the dorsal fin. At the base of the dorsal fin in a black spot. It is definately some kind of damsel. Any thoughts??? Thanks.

Someone in the saltwater forum would probably be of better assistance... us freshies have no clue what you're talking about dear.

Beau Gregory Damsel (Chrysiptera sp.) ?
Tough without a picture...

Remember most damsels are not nice little things!

Thanks for the help. That was a great thought. When I looked it up, the next photo on the list was it! It is a Chrysiptera Brownriggii. Now, I am trying to find out what I can about this species. Wish me well!

:hi: to the salty side of TFF :good:

Would be great if you started a journel so that we can take a nosey at your tank and stock, what are your plans for the future?

Just answered your other post before seeing this one, woohoo I got it right on the second guess :)

As above most damsels are pretty mean and will fight both amongst themselves and with other fish. Best kept in large groups (IMO of at least 9) to spread the aggression out and stop the smaller one of the group getting picked off and killed.
