Well about a month ago I was at my LFS buying fish. One of the other employees from another department walked up with a bag of fish. Guess someone decided they didnt want them after they had them bagged. So I said I would take them and they gave them to me for a dollar! There was a Green Cory cat, a Gold fish and another fish. Cory Cat and the unknown went into my 55 and the Goldfish went into my Koi Pond. I thought the unknown was a little bitty upside down catfish. Now that he has grown he is clearly not! He is bigger then my other upside down cat and has really long black whiskers. He spends most of his time in a hole in a log I have. I have a few pics here (hope they work!). Sorry about the quailty, but it usually hangs out in the middle of the tank and my camera dont take good pics unless the fish are up front. That and I tried to zoom in on him. Thanks in advance for any informatian!

You have a very nice Synodontis catfish, the same family as the upside down catfish, but different species. I will post back with details later when I check out your guy in my reference book, it looks like Eupterus but Im not 100%!

Akhtar,
You need to link to the pictures location on the internet, using html tags [ img ] [ /img ] (no spaces)
So the photo must already be on the internet somewhere and you can use it using the IMG buton in the reply panel.

Wal-mart keeps them with the cichlids. Very cute fish and has a pattern almost like a zebra pleco when it matrues, except it's not as bright! They sell them for almost $6.00.

Hi alanky :)

Here's a link that will give you some information about your new fish:

Now, I don't know anything about this fish, but I know corys and the large pebbles at the bottom of your tank would cause damage to their barbels. You might want to look into whether or not they will be safe for your fish since he has barbels, too.

I have seen Synodontis Catfish at pet stores and I had thought that was maybe what he was. There are a few differences between the ones I was looking at, but now that I look at the link from Inchworm that has to be it! Mine is just a baby. :D I noticed they gor for $6-$8 so I guess I got a good deal! I just felt sorry for them since someone just abanbon them on a shelf. It's odd that you say they dont get along with Cory Cats. When he does decide to come out from his log he seems to hang out with them. They dont really seem to bother each other. :dunno: Thanks for the help! Now I need to take pics of my othyer fish and get them on here. :)

Oh and thank you Ken for explaining to him how to post pics. I bet I have typed that explanation out 100 times. :D

I really wish I would have taken pics of this fish when I first got it. It was only about the size of a quarter! I planned on taking pics, but when he was that small I wouldnt see him everyday. There were times when I forgot about him then he would just pop up. Now that he is bigger I enjoy him everyday. It is kind of funny the way I got into this. I had an empty 55 that I got for Xmas and never set up. One of my friends had a tank and moved out of state, so I ended up with all his fish. Then not to much longer another friend decided to move to an apartment, so I ended up with all her fish. Truth is I have only bought about 6 or so fish. I also had a 29 that used to have a bullfrog in it. Then I had to set it up because I had some fish pecking at other fish. All of the aggressive fish went in there and I have slowly given them away. Eventually the 29 will be empty again. Sorry to bore you all but I am really into this stuff now. I have had the tanks for almost 2 years now and I think the last few fish out of the 29 will be given away here soon. This aquarium stuff is addicting!

Hi Alanky :)

Huh?

Doh! I read it to fast and read it wrong. I thought you said the Cory cats and the Synodontis catfish would harm each other. Now that I re-read it I see what you were saying. Sorry!
