sometimes they are that small I cant see if they have scales or not. The reason I ask is because I have some aquatic salts, I know I can only use them on fish with scales.

I have danios, x ray tetras, bala shark, guppies. I know the bala has scales, and the guppies need salt now and then, but what of the rest?

your fish all have scales

most catfish don't have scales but you don't have any catfish

guppies don't really need salt though.

I know some people say guppies do need salt but unless they have some sort of fungus, it is unnecessary IMO

Tetras evolved in very low hardness, salt-free waters. Your tetras will not appreciate too high salt concentration at all. Also, I am unsure if this is fact or not, however there is word of salt entering the kidneys of the tetras, and since they did not develop in an environment where salt is present, the kidneys eventually fail trying to take care of this foreign substance. However, I am sure about tetras coming from very soft water, and the salt will not be easy on them. That said, pristellas are some of the hardier tetras out there.

everything will work except the tetras

why do you want to add salt?
I had a fungus at one point and was i tried a wee bit of salt, I only put in small amounts but it seemed to help. i just wanted to check that I wasn't harming the fish
