what kind of chiclids would be good in

i want 2 get two african chiclids when i get my new tank for my community fish. i want them to be a medium size, colorful and have alot of eggs. im new at these fish so i dont know what kind would do good in it.

any advice?

NONE. You cannot keep african cichlids in a 5 gallon tank--and certainly not in a community tank with standard tropical fish.

oh well, i guess ill just keep it for platys, i kinda like them more anyways

You can only put in a few platies. I'd put 3-4 tops in a five gallon.

If they have fry (which they probably will) I would say this might even be pushing it!
