I come home from school, all the danios are listless, the neon's can't swim properly, my Corie's are on their backs, and my filter is spewing out white stuff.

I managed to save almost all my fish (2 rams, 6 cory, 9 danios, 3 neon tetras, 7 endlers) with the exception of some neon's
but they are now all crammed into a 10 litre tank with no filter until the weekend and I have NO idea what to do or anything,
the fish are all fine now they were gasping for air in the main tank but they are all doing fine in the 10 litre and doing what they normally do, the danios which were the worst are now completely back to normal but I would like to know whats wrong with my filter and why is it spewing out milky white stuff? when I took the lid off even smoke was coming from the gas bubbles, I plan to get a new one at the weekend but I would like to know its cause so I can prevent whatever happened from happening again.

It might be worth taking a look at your filter media? Maybe something went wrong with some of it?
You have a stingray, if I remember from your pics, and they can also be pretty dangerous for smaller fish like your neons and endlers, apparently sucking them in at the back. Might be worth looking into something like a fluval or interpet, just to make sure they're safe :good:

Sounds like an ammonia spike...

@-Figherfish ok I'll try I haven't actually found the remains of any of the presumed dead neons so maybe that was it...

@carlove Maybe though I haven't added any new fish for about 4 weeks? Plus the rams weren't showing any symptoms the other fish were and they are supposed to be the most sensitive, I'll see if I can test my water later if I can find my test kit.
