Any ideas what this is. Nothing I have seen online appears to match!

Could be but I think the spot near the tail is to far forward and the gold barb pictures I have seen the fish doesn't look as "clear" as this one.

Well the spot is not gonna be in the exact same spot as another gold barb they all differ a little. I have a gold barb and it is was see through when it was young, now its almost a year old and its not as see though anymore. But if i had to guess I would agree with fishfishfish.

Body form is wrong for a Gold Barb. Looks like a mucked about with Rosy Barb. There are dozens of "desirable" line bred man made varieties.

well i do know its not a gold barb cos i have 3 and theyre much more streamlined than this.
