Recently I have caught a fish that was swimming through a brook near me (In Connecticut usa) and I was hoping someone can take shot at what it is
It has a black stripe straight down the middle and is greenish-gold on top with a white/cream underbelly
I believe it is some type of minnow its about 1 and a half inches and for some reason I have saw it chase my baby bluegills which most are larger than it and it constantly forages for food, any ideas what it is?please help

black nose dace? (first species of brook fish that comes to mind having a stripe-im in NY and the species should be similar if not the same). other common small brook fish are creek chub, a variety of darter species(bottom dwellers) or trout fry. id have a search for dace species first and see if that is what you have. a picture would be very very helpful in identifying the fish.
cheers
