I can't seem to find what the actual ideal temperature for a goldfish is. I don't believe that wide temp fluctuations would be good for them, so I put my old heaters in my tank. (It's turned off cold here and I was having about a 15 degree swing between day and night.) It's a 55 gal, so I have two heaters, one at each end of the tank. One of the heaters is pre set and I can't change it, the other is one I can mess around with. The current temp of the tank is 78. Is this okay or should I try to get it lower. Also, if the preset heater is keeping the temp at 78 alone, is this okay. My dad always taught me that you have to have two heaters in a tank over 29 gallons or else they will burn themselves o0ut trying to keep up. What do you say?

A good temperature is 70-75F (21-24C). However, they can cope with fluctuations of a few degrees to each side, but it is best to try and keep a stable temperature. :)

 Thanks! Do ya'll agree with Ms. Cheese? I hope so... it would be great if things were good as they are, but if they're not, I want to make it right.

I agree, 78C should be fine for Fancy Goldfish. :)
