Hi,

The process which I used when I was a teenager (many years ago) to earn a few extra pence was...

Select a pair that interact & are both showing their colours well.
Move them to a tank without any filtration (so that top of water is still)
Give them some floating plants or artificial mop for their bubble nest and leave them to it.

I have bred various Golden & Blue Gouramis over the years using this method.

Hope this helps

soz but my book doesnt have ablue gourami in it it has gold do u think they are good and easy to look after ..... will they ever breed in a community tank :D

I've been trying to persuade my pearl gouramis to breed for what seems like forever, but with no luck. I think my male's a bit of a whimp and he's so shy that every time he tries to start a bubble nest, he gets freaked and swims back behind his plant. I wouldn't say they were difficult to look after, however, and few are as wimpy as mine.

My blue gourami male built a bubble nest a few times in the community tank, but eventually it was always destroyed by the current. So, never got any babies. I would have wanted to breed them, but didn't have the space or money for a breeding tank.

I haven't had any other gouramis, so I can't compare, but since the blue gourami couple was apparently ready to breed without any help from me, I'd guess they're fairly easy. I have no idea about how difficult raising the babies would be though.

i am trying to get my two pearl gouramis to breed, they interacted very well in the community tank and bubble nests were built. they now have their own tank, lots of plants, gentle filter current ,lowered water level.... just trying to be patient now :) pebbles
