Hi all, I currently use Easylife fertilizer but what is the BEST to use? I hear its either Seachem Flourish or TPN+. But I want to know why they are the best? What makes them different to the other fertilizers with the same vitamins and nutrients??

thanks

TPN+ is the best all in one but I use Aqua Nourish and Aqua Nourish + as that way I can up certain doses if I start getting algae.

Seachem Flourish is mostly a trace mix of nutrients. All the stuff plants need 'trace' amounts of, the tpn+ is the trace elements plus extra nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and magnesium.
The Tropica equivalent to Flourish would be the TPN. They all use more or less the same chemicals to make them up so it basically comes down to strength against cost. That's why it always important to check the analysis against the dose. We've moved on from 1ml per 100L once per month...... :good:

Actually that is not quite correct. TPN does contain K and Mg (potassium and magnesium). TPN+ adds in the phosphorus and nitrogen. I have been using TPN and it predecessor Tropica MasterGrow for almost a decade now. However, I also dose individually phosphorus, nitrogen, potassium and occasionally iron all from SeaChem as needed.

I tried making a homeade version of the Tropica juice for a few months and went back to using the Tropica. I started with it because they are the worlds pre-eminent aquatic plant folks. If the stuff is good enough for them, who I am I to argue. The only knock anybody can have regarding the TPN and TPN+ might be cost.

Yes :good:

It's difficult for the hobbiest to make Tropica analogues in the UK because of the difficulty in getting hold of ammonium nitrate. Not impossible tho.
