What is the best filteration. Is it an aquaclear filter,A bio wheel, any other filter tupe, or an under gravel filter, or you tell me.could you tell me the reason too. :hey:  :kana:  :look: :( :D :p :)  :shifty: :-( :shifty:  :shifty:  :shifty:  :shifty: 8) 8)

i like the emperor 400's aswell cuz they have the biowheel and allow more room for bacteria growth. :D

If you want to get power filters, get either Emperior 280/400 or AquaClear lines. If you have larger tanks, you should consider getting canisters - either Filstar or Eheim in addition to the power filters.

Personally, I'm looking into going with Aqua Clear 500 + Filstar XP3 for my next setup. (80g)

I've used UG filter on all my tanks (2ft - 4ft) and never had a problem. That was for freshwater and brackish.
How often do you clean that filter? At least in theory, under the gravel should turn into a big mess in a year or so... And to clean that filter, you have to pretty much take the whole tank appart?

I have an Aquaclear 300 and it's working good and I never had a problem.... :D plus it seems so simple to install or hook up compare to other filters like UG etc and cheaper.... :D

When I do my weekly water changes I use a syphon with a gravel clearner attached. this helps todisturb the filter bed and remove any debris that has acumulated there. UG filters I must add are not particularly suited to planted aquariums, which is why I'm not using one on my new tetra tank. There are easier and less messy filters out there and even better filters but I have found UG filters to be cheap and unobtrusive and should by no means be dismissed altogether as a viable filteration method.
