What Is Peat Filtered Water?

What does the term 'Peat Filtered Water' mean? I have read that Silver Dollars prefer Peat Filtered Water.

it means that you should add aquatic peat to your filter.
this will release humic acids and tannins into the water, turining slightly brow and thus lowering the pH.

Sera(tm) make the best value aquatic peat (IMHO) sold a pond peat.
Eheim also do an aquatic peat (ehifitorf [sp]) but is quite expensive.

"Peat filtered water" will also reduce the general harness as well.
