I have a 125 gal pond with a 30g spillway thing. I keep it cleaned out well, and there are only 3 small 2-3" goldies in it. The pump runs good, as I keep it rinsed well.
The problem I'm having is the smell. There is hardly no algae, but there is a huge amount of plants. I'm wondering if having too plants many is causing the problem. It seems that this same thing happens when the plants in one of my tanks inside needs trimming back. Do I need to just throw some out? I love the pond, but the smell is making it not-so-nice to be outside beside it.
Thanks for the help!

do you change some water regurly?
try taking out a bunch and add new declored water in.

that smell is the anaerobic bacteria which lives in stagnant water, what you need to do is either buy or borrow a pond vac and get all the sludge from the bottom of the pond, you could also nd give it a proper clean? then to stop it building up again place your pump in the lowest part of the pond it shouls suck it all up and deposit the muck in your filter, whick you should be cleaning out once a week maybe twice a month for you being very low stocked
