What Is Better For Cycling? Rainbow, Or Danio?

i am getting eather a Australian Rainbowfish or a Zebra Danio and i want to know which will survive the cycle in my new 10 gallon tank better?

I will eventually get both, but for now i want to know which to get.

How about doing a fishless cycle, then that way neither fish will be harmed during the cycle.

if you're doing fish cycle try tetra aqua's safestart, it worked well for me, had danios in it after 2 weeks, and no problems with levels after they were added

thanks, i have put some cycle product to help fish get through cycling.

not sure about your question, but my danios were fine with my tank from 2 weeks onwards, never had any new tank syndrome with them, but did with a tetra a week later 1 of 5 had NTS, but soon got over it.

yeah, too big.

Rainbowfish are ~5" and quite active. Danios typically arent recommended for <20gal for the same reason.

just to clarify, danios are active but most are pretty small (<2 in). Because of their activity and speed, they do best with swimming room.
