Will it remove the chlorines and such?
Does it "age" in a day, a week, a month..etc?
Can it be covered or does it have to be open air?
In the sun or the shade?

(I'm feelin' mighty dopey today with all these questions :*) )

To answer some of your questions, yes it removes the chlorine, the water takes a day to do so.

Aging water overnight will only remove the chlorine, not the chloramine. Both are harmful, so it's best to just use a dechlorinator that will go after them both just to be positive....

It ages generally in a day, and I've read it's best opened up.

As far as lighting goes, I haven't seen much data that pushes either way.
