Hi
Just interested in what internet security you use,
I have Norton, but many say it's more like a virus and very intrusive,
So i am looking at a free security download,
something like AVG,
What do you use?
Any reccomendations?
Thanks.

I started with AVG free then went to the paid verstion for 2years when it was v7 then had a free upgrade to v8 I am now using v2012 three years for three systems only using two for I think it was about £24:00 online down load or on disk next day post, brilliant software never had a virus scans e-mails in and out, virus patch updates most days.

The best free av is avast paid antivir or eset nod I would say

Microsoft Security Essentials, free, not too processor-intensive, along with Microsoft Firewall.

You might also need Ad-Aware, also free.

I use this setup on all my PCs at work (6 in total), it was recommended by a number of IT professionals I cyber-know on a football forum.

So if i Uninstall Norton i can then Install for FREE MSE?
And then i can also Install AD-AWARE?
Won't they Conflict with each other??

Yes, you would have to uninstall Norton, and MSE won't conflict with Ad-Aware.

OK thanks
I might have a go but i not the best on Computers.

Norton is a pig to uninstall, it leaves files all over the place, these can interrupt other anti virus's.

For me AVG is a unobtrusive and doesn't slow your system down. I have used AVG for 13 years now and 'touch wood' never had a major problem.

I heard the same about trying to Uninstall Norton,
any ideas where on internet i can get help?

Yep, Norton is a swine to delete. The way i got round it was to format my computer and install XP Professional instead.

I have used AVG and Zone Alarm in the past with great success. I just use the standard Windows stuff on Vista though now. It can stop a few bits and pieces that needs over-riding, but not bad really.

Nothing is working great for me, but then I cheat and don't use windows or macs.
