i want some fish for my top level of my tank what fish are ok to put in with tiger barb and green tiger barb and black ruby barb

i want something nice

any help wud be great

I dont know that much because ive never kept TBs.

Danios would probably work. :)

I agree. Avoid any of the long finned varieties though. Zebras upper part of the tank swimmers, are just as active as TB's, and can give as good as they get if necessary.

The vertical pattern of the tigers, and the horizontal of the Zebras would make for an interesting contrast.

maybe white cloud minnows too . . . I read a magazine that said they had the speed and intelligence to handle some-what pushy tank mates. A lot like the danios.

Any fast top dwelling species would probably be okay, like danios or hatchetfish, as long as they are kept in schools and there are more than 2 or 3 tigers.

Apparently some tried tiger barbs with mbunas and it worked for them...

I tried very hard to convince myself that it will be ok until I saw a fully grown up P. Acei... Man they do grow pretty big! Given their lively character, I don't think the barbs will make it, so I'm not going to experiment this combo... ;)

Just imagine a platy (I see alot of similary in thier playful behavior) that is about 5 inches long, 2 inchs high and 1 inch thick!

Ok, that wasn't the best suggestion so far...

i had white clouds in with mine for a long while, they actually got along really well
i ended up moving the white clouds to a different tank however, because i didn't think they complimented each other very well color wise...yeah i know, i'm lame..but eh, they're just as happy as they use to be, and i have no intention of moving them again

Check out the gouramis. They have some nice colors, and can breath from the surface. Mine hangs out near the top.

I've got a Pearl Danio and three White Cloud Mountain Minnows with my Tiger Barbs, and they get along just fine. PD & WCMM's top-level, TB's mid-level swimmers. :)

Don't the tiger barbs nip the gouramis fins?

That's what I expected as well but apparently some have successfully kept more aggressive gouramies with tiger barbs for years... Forgot which ones though...

Cool. I guess in the world of fish, there are no constants.

I kept a gold gourami with tiger barbs and had no nipping. I had 6 TBs though.

Also - I'm considering getting TBs to go with my Rainbowfish. They're normally pretty peaceful, but I've got a feisty bunch!

Parker you coul get a school of tigers AND a RTBS or rainbow, they get along great IME. (I had an old 20 with a school of 8 tigers and a rainbow shark)
