i'd rehome the common plecs, as they get huge and way too big for small aquariums. you are also a bit overstocked. a rule of thumb for beginners is 1 inch of fish per gallon of water. also, is your tank cycled? if not, do a search on fishless cycling. i would pass on the red tailed black shark, since it is very territorial even in larger tanks, and will probably kill your bottom dwellers, the corys. as far as the filter/pump goes, as long as you have adequate surface agitation, you don't need the pump.

thanks ,that wsa really bhelpful,i can get rid ov my pump, sum 1 gave me the fish ,so i bought the tank ,thers about 13 fish 2 plecos 6 neons,is that a lot dor a 60l tank ,coz it doesnt look like many, im not goin to get the shark,as for the plecos they just got given to me, they clean tank superb ,but they getn bigger every day ,really,, what fish could i put in now or next time ,any ideas?, youve been really helpul thaks mate, the tank had filter in and clean water .p[lants, and i didnt put the fish in for awk,my temperature on my tank is 25 is that ok mate

Please, please, please don't even think about putting any other fish in your tank right now.

You really must try and re-home those two plecs. They can grow to a good foot long; which is probably longer than your whole tank and they produce loads and loads of poop; the filter you'd need would be 10 times the size of your tank!

If you ask around your local fish shops and put up some adverts (Aquarist Classified is a good site where you can advertise them; it won't cost you anything) you might be able to find someone who'll have them, but they really, really need to be out of your tank, even if they're only small right now.

Even without the plecs your tank is massively overstocked; the zebras (I hope to god they're zebra danios, not zebra loach or, god forbid, zebra cichlids) need a tank three foot long at least; they might not be big fish, but they are speedy fish who need room to swim; the harlequins need to be in group of 6+, as do the corydoras, plus the cories really need a sand substrate rather than gravel.

I'm sorry to sound like such a moody boots, and I know these fish were given to you, but you really do need to sort things out before the fish start to die off from being cramped and poisoned by poor water (it's very hard to keep good water quality in small, overstocked tanks).
