Hi' Guy's ,

My parents have a tall tank thats about 2 foot length and 2 tall and about a foot deep its a differernt shape(see my dodgy paint diagram to show what i mean) so i'm not sure on the volume it holds. im guessing about 20-30 us gal
At present it has two un branded internal filters that clog really easy and most likely are not up to the job so i was going to get them an external filter instead.

What i need is something that's small and looks neat as it'll be going in the main living room while still doing the job and being relativly cheap (not fussed if second hand)

I have a fluval 305 running on one of my tanks , something a bit smaller than that if possible.

I would probably go for a tetratec ex700, or with heavy stocking possibly a ttex1200 if it can fit in your cabinet.

Will take a look at that one , i should of mentioned the stocking , at present it has about 8-9 platy's one common plec thats going next week and 2 small gourami's (not looked up yet to see what they are) so it's pretty lightly stocked at the moment and the only thing they want to add is more platy's

If you are interested in the tank's volume, try adding the front and back lengths together and dividing the result by 2. Use that as the length in a simple length times width times height to get volume like this ((F+B)/2)*H*W=volume where F is front length, B is back length, W is width from front to back and H is height. If you are working metric, 1000 cm[sup]3[/sup] is 1 litre and you are done. If you are working in FPS units a cubic foot is about 7.5 gallons.

My brain doesnt funtion this early to work that out! so will do it when i get in from work , thanks very much though it will most certainly be usefull to know for stocking and filteration.

I'd go for a tetratec too, excellent filters and can be picked up 2nd hand for decent prices.

Hi' Guy's,

Got an Eheim 2213 for the tank as it was only £40 inc delivery and looks small. just got to hope theyre reliable as every one says:)
