Is it just the combination of colors that makes a betta able to be labeled a Mustard Gas?
I know it's supposed to be the actual spawn of the original Mustard Gas (isn't there a copyright on the name?). But isn't the term now used to describe all bettas with those colors? The purple (or blue) with yellowish gold right?

I want to know if my new guy would be considered a Mustard Gas. Although, he's absolutely beautiful whether he is or not.

I've seen a lot of different colours be described as mustard gas, but as far as I can tell, it's usually a purple, blue/green, or brownish base with yellow tones that kind of fill in at the bases of the fins... the yellow being the key trait
I dunno... I can't really explain it, but I know a mustard gas when I see it :dunno:

Lol, just thought I would comment on the not so pleasant things that name brings to mind. What a horrible sounding name for such a purty strain....egh

Oh Kara.....Mai Tai is just gorgeous!!!!!

Jezah......I agree about the name. I told my husband that I think our new betta is a Mustard Gas. Now he wants to name it "Saddam".
The two names I've been thinking of for him is either Colonel Mustard or Dijon Fume' (pronounced Foo-may). I guess I'll wait and see if he's a sophisticated kind of betta or a down and dirty "man's man" kind of betta.

I like the name of the strain.

Here’s my Mustard Gas Veil Tail, Toxin. ^^

And some people call this color a Chocolate Mustard Gas, that being the brown and yellow. This is Hornet BTW.

Wow! He is gorgeous. Those colors are amazing

I sure do love the Mustard Gas. I'm so excited to have one. I'm going to be taking him out of the Bettamax blue water so I'll be able to really see him in full color splendor very soon.
