what equipment do i need

im trying to setup a tank and i want to know exactly what equipment i need to start up a tank..i have a 55 gallon tank now...and then i want to know how to mix the salt in the water.....it maybe a dumb question but hey better safe than sorry.

Is this a marine tank you are setting up?

Let us know if it is so it can be moved to the appropriate forum where it should get a better responce.

If it is a freshwater tropical set up there is no need to add salt at all except for in certain circumstances for medicinal purposes.
