Hi Tony and welcome to the forum. :hi:

Sadly, you are already overstocked. The rule of thumb is 1" of adult fish per gallon of water so about 3 to 5 neons is a full stock. Most people use 5 gallon tanks for bettas only (I have a single betta in a 5 gallon myself). I know it may look like there is plenty of room for more but the extra waste of more fish creates big problems unless you are very overfiltered.

Plus corys are schooling fish, and 5 gallons is too small for a decent(6->) group. A bigger tank, 20-30 gallons would be more suitable, and it is worth the effort(plus there is more fish you could add there!).

if you do go by the one adult fish per gallon rule:

2 corys - 2 gallon
1 betta (when got) - 1 gallon
8 neons (which stay in groups) - 2 gallon

dont think thats bad ive seen bettas in tanks way more crowded than that and they love it

o well
thanx for your help

The rule is INCHES of adult fish per gallon, not individual fish per gallon.

Depending on the cory species, you're probably looking at 2-4" per cory.
Bettas get around 2.5"- 3".
Neons get bigger than 1", but don't produce too much waste, so call it 1" per neon. Them grouping has nothing to do with stocking levels.

That's 17" of fish, give or take.

You are overstocked, tony. 5 gallons is a really small tank. Definitely don't add anything else and seriously consider upgrading to a bigger tank.
