I just read few messages again and when water values were said, there all were "well".

Then I checked what kind of fishes person have, and (s)he has fishes that live some where in Asia and fishes that live in Amazon river, in black water rivers.. So, what does "well" is exactly? Because I don't know that!

Sure they are kept in same water in stores, but it doesn't mean that they can be kept in that water rest of their lives. Why there are so many problems with fish healthy, if water values are always "well"?

So... I don't want to be rude, but I really don't want to ask it everytime either when reading messages therefore put those numbers in your messages too! It helps alot when thinking what would be wrong. Especially it's important if you're thinking why your fries die or eggs don't hatch!

Well said, mrV. It's ahrd to help someone when we don't know their precise water parameters. We just have to guess, and hope that the readings were accurate :dunno:

Perhaps they meant that their water comes from a well on their property and therefore isn't treated with chemicals? It's hard to know. My water is "well" water because there is no local city water. We dug our own well and use it for all purposes including drinking. We have it tested once a year to make sure that no pollutants or dangerous chemicals or minerals are in it. Could that be what the person meant???

Yes, It is frustrating when you have to ask all the time about the parameters but some of our members are still new to the game and dont know what to include in their posts. Hopefully you raising this here will be seen by many and will help address the type of information everyone needs in order to help solve problems for our other members. Good Point mrV

How about a "help me" post template that included entries for tank size/dimensions, inhabitants, temperature, pH, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, etc. along with sections on symptoms experienced and solutions tried?

If people want our help, then let's make it easy for them to ask for it and to be sure of getting good advice.

Ohhhh Modern Hamlet - please post that in the forum questions forum. I'd like to see what others think of that. It's a great idea.
