What Does This Mean?

Hi all, just want to say that my profile says that I post 3.4 posts each day. Can enybody tell me what that means, I'm not dump but I'm that that means 30.4. Can someone tell me here.

i think it's your total number of posts divided by the number of day's you've been registered, it means on average you post 3.4 times per day.

it's an average though, so for every day that you don't come on it drives it down. it's not meant ot be an exact representation though, obviously your posting rate will fluctuate all the time. it's just meant as a general guideline so if anyone's looking at your profile they can get an idea of how active you are on the forum.

You joined on 18 February, so about 9.5 weeks, or 67 days ago.

You have 230 posts.

230/67=3.433 (to 3DP)

So 3.4 posts per day is indeed the correct amount.

If I'm correct, posts in the "Welcome" section don't count. Or at least that's the way I under stood it. I could be wrong though.

Edit: And considering this post didn't change my total, posts in this subforum would seem to not count. I did go to the "Welcome" section and posted there and those do count now.

yup posts in certain forum's don't count towards your post count. my understanding is that this is because lots of people (wrongly IMO) assume that a high post count equals a high level of knowledge on the subject (fish). Posts outside the subject of fishkeeping are allowed on this forum in specified places and on specified topics but these do not all count towards your post count or you could for example have someone who knows nothing at all about fish, has never posted in any of the fish sections but knows lots about cooking and posts there a lot dishing out dodgy advice and people assuming they know they're stuff because of a high post count. Sort of a fail safe so it's mostly your posts about fishkeeping that will count towards your post count.

How did you work that out? Well yeah I did join on 18 February, 2007. But then left the forum.

I leave the forum everyday, guess what, its still there in the morning!

If you had bothered to read miss wiggles posts you would understand why that is, or perhaps you did but didn't understand?
