Hey, getting a 2x2x1 ft tank that holds about 25 gal i think  It is from a mate and has a goldfish in it along with pump, filter, etc. . .

What do you think i should put in? The choice i make is almost completely based on answers i get from you guys! lol :D So useful suggestion would be appreciated of course.

I am willing to take the goldfish to the LFS and purchase a heater to turn it tropical. . .

Haven't had that much experience but have read unmeasureable amounts in books about different varieties, etc. . . . Dad has some at his house and i basically tell him what do get and how to do waterchanges, etc, so i'm a mild amateur i suppose, yet very enthusiastic as the name may suggest

Lost of help please!! lol, thanks a lot :)

Goldfish are great fish, you'll never regret it if you keep him/her. You have room to add one more goldfish (if its a fancy and not a common/comet goldfish) because they are very sociable fish and he/she would like a buddy. You can also put subtropical fish (fish that can live in cooler temps with no problems) such as bronze/albino cories, danios, WCMM, wheather loaches, hilstream loaches, and bloodfind tetras. So you have lots of choices. Just a suggestion.

yuo should get a bunch of bumble bee gobys and make it slightly brakish

I would suggest that you go and take a look at what fish you like in reputable shops, then do some research on compatibility and take it from there. It really should come down to personal choice when you choose your fish,as you are the one who has to love them and live with them.

A 2x1x1 that holds 25 gallons? You'll be lucky, a 2x1x1 holds 15 Gallons.

That eliminates some of the options given to you I'm afraid.

ummm, i think you mean otocinclus  and 2x2x1 is 30 gallons. i would go with 1 senegal bichir if its 2ft widthx2ftlengthx1ft height. i believe this is the bare minimum for them. if you want a more colorful or better looking tank, i would get some blue german rams or angels (one or the other because i dont think there is enough space), corys, cardinals, khulis, and some otos. if you get angels, dont get cardinals.

Yeah. I'd go with platys. Im newer myself, have 3 and they're great fish.

All of mine are female, but one has already had fry (which were eaten.. i have no place for them anyhow..)

But anyways, i'd buy 2 of the nicest looking females you can find, with the attributes you like and then get a nice looking male. Put all 3 in with plenty of nice cover and then you'll find in due time the females will be havin' babies. Buy a breeder net thing to raise the fry in. Soon enough you'd have a nice full tank of fish I imagine. Wouldn't have to worry about buying new ones again..

As I can imagine, it would be cool having a tank full of fish that you bred. If you do though, be sure you buy 2 females and 1 male. That is the correct ratio, or else there will be some murders going down. Also, i'd advise going to a smaller store for platys.. all the ones ive ever bought from petsmart die too soon, but the ones from a local fish store live ages. Maybe it's just the stock of my nearest petsmart.
